Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring proficiency in fetal strip interpretation and OB circulating skills.
Details
- Work in the Labor & Delivery unit of a Women's and Children's Hospital
- Unit includes 2 triage rooms, 10 labor rooms, and 2 ORs
- Patient ratios of 1:1 or 2:1 depending on acuity
- Uses fetal monitors, IUPC, FSE, fluid warmer, IV pumps, and epidural pumps
- EMR systems used include CPN and Meditech
- Performs procedures including vaginal deliveries, c-sections, amniocentesis, amnioinfusions, and IUPC/FSE placement
- Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Rotate every other weekend
- Possible circulator on-call responsibilities
- Floating limited to a closed unit with cross-training to postpartum
Requirements
- Active RN license (Louisiana or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- Fetal Monitoring certification (AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced, or NCCEFM) required
- NRP must be Advanced 9th Edition
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
- Proficient in starting IVs and drawing labs
- Skilled in interpreting fetal strips
- Proficient in performing vaginal exams
- Experience as an OB circulator required
- Scrubbing ability preferred
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Labor & Delivery setting
- Work alongside a team including charge nurses, triage nurses, scrub techs, and secretaries on each shift
- Teal scrubs required for nursing staff
- Best suited for candidates who are organized, detail-oriented, empathetic, and compassionate
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
