Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical Oncology position on night shift requiring chemotherapy certification and TX or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Surgical Oncology unit of a hospital environment
- 30-bed unit staffed with approximately 48 nurses, PCTs, and HUCs
- Day and night shifts each staffed with 1 CNC, 5-6 RNs, and 2 PCTs
- Patient ratios of approximately 1:5 to 1:6
- Uses equipment including Baxter pumps, SCD machines, MobiLab, and glucometers
- EMR system is Meditech
- Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month required
- Floating required to Medical Oncology and Med/Surg units
Requirements
- Active RN license (TX or Compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC) certification required for all RNs working in Oncology
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Surgical Oncology or related specialty required
- No certifications expiring within the first 30 days of assignment start
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- IV insertion and chemotherapy administration skills preferred
- Strong communication and compassion/empathy skills required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care including medication administration, chest tube management, NGT management, and Foley catheter management
- Must be able to work effectively as part of a team
- Must adhere to unit attendance policy
- Royal blue scrub attire required
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
