Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedics unit position requiring prior Charge RN experience and previous travel assignment history.
Details
- 29-bed Orthopedics/Med-Surg unit caring for patients from adulthood through geriatrics
- Unit includes telemetry monitoring and an on-unit physical therapy gym
- High volume patient populations include total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and kyphoplasties
- Moderate volume patient populations include other surgical procedures and inpatient/24-hour observation medical patients
- Typical patient ratio is 1:5-6
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed to any campus within the health system
- RNs required to work Charge RN shifts as needed
- Unit staffed with a mixture of RNs and LPNs
- Charge nurses on this fast-paced unit also carry a patient load
- EPIC EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Previous Charge RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- EPIC charting system experience required
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Skills required include BiPAP/CPAP management, nasal cannula and oxygen tank use, and tracheostomy care/management
- Skills required include colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care and management
- Skills required include continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure care
- Skills required include CVA and cardiac monitoring/dysrhythmia interpretation, including telemetry remote monitoring
- Skills required include isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
- Skills required include heparin and PCA medication administration
- Experience in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Orthopedics, ortho trauma, and total joint replacement settings required
- Current driver's license required to verify address for radius eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to orthopedic and medical-surgical patients, including total joint replacement and ortho trauma cases
- Perform Charge RN duties as needed while managing an active patient load
- Schedules are built every six weeks according to unit demand, with set weekend schedules only
- All RNs must pass a Pass/Fail EKG compliance exam with up to two attempts allowed
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as no local rates apply
- Non-billable orientation modules average 2-4 hours and vary based on unit assignment
- RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application; post-submission RTO requests are not accepted
