Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a minimum of 2 years staff therapist experience and Trauma Level I/II experience for a 13-week assignment at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
Details
- Respiratory Care/Neuro Diagnostics unit at a teaching hospital
- 36 hours/week assignment
- Day/Evening shifts of 8 and 12 hours, including 07:00-19:30, 07:00-15:30, and 15:00-23:30
- Every other weekend rotation required
- On-call required once every 6-week scheduling period
- One winter holiday coverage of 2 block shifts required
- Floating required as needed
- Uses Epic charting system
- Cares for adult and pediatric patients in critical care and emergency department settings
- Performs ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and IMV
- Performs arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
- Manages airway devices including ET tubes, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
- Administers various respiratory medications including bronchodilators and inhaled steroids
Requirements
- WI RCP license required (pending license accepted at time of submission); license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a staff respiratory therapist
- Pediatric and adult experience preferred
- Graduate of a COARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- NBRC RRT certification required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- Trauma Level I and Trauma Level II experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to start, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80% or higher overall passing score for both adult and pediatric exams
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to adult and pediatric patients in critical care and emergency department settings
- Perform chest physiotherapy, including vest therapy
- Assist with bronchoscopy and manage patients with ARDS, aspiration, cystic fibrosis, and fresh tracheostomy
- Administer nebulizer treatments via hand-held, trach collar, and ultrasonic methods
- Support neonatal and pediatric airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
- Care for infants and children with RSV
- Located at a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
- Onsite parking requires a permit; alternative transportation options such as bus and park & ride are available
- Travel experience preferred depending on candidate's overall experience level
