Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least two years of staff therapist experience for a night shift position at a Level I/II trauma teaching hospital.
Details
- Work in the Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- Level I and Level II Trauma Center setting
- Adult and pediatric patient population, with pediatric experience preferred
- Cares for patients with ARDS, aspiration, COVID, cystic fibrosis, fresh tracheostomy, and respiratory failure requiring ventilator support
- Performs ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and IMV, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, and chest physiotherapy
- Utilizes Epic charting system
- Night shift schedule with 8 and 12-hour shifts (1900-0730, 2300-0730, 1500-2330)
- 36 hours per week over a 13-week assignment
- Every other weekend rotation required
- On-call required once every 6-week scheduling period
- Requires coverage of 1 winter holiday (2 block shifts)
- Floating required as needed
Requirements
- Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a staff respiratory therapist
- Pediatric and adult experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I and Level II experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- BLS certification (AHA only) required
- WI RCP license required; pending license accepted at time of submission
- License required if applicable
- Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with strict passing criteria for adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care across adult critical care, emergency department, and pediatric settings
- Administer a range of medications and therapies including bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, and nitric oxide
- Perform airway management procedures including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
- Manage high flow nasal cannula, trach collar, and oxygen delivery systems
- Support neonatal and pediatric respiratory procedures including nasal/oral suctioning and pulmonary hygiene
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Travel experience preferred depending on candidate's overall experience level
- Parking permit required for onsite parking, with alternative transportation options available
