Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a PCU Float position requiring TX or compact RN licensure, 2 years of experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• PCU Float position supporting primarily Med Surg units
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
• 84 hours biweekly with a 72 hour guarantee
• Must agree to a 36/48 hour alternating schedule; facility may consider straight 48s
• Weekend work required as needed, potentially most weekends during the contract
• Block scheduling may be accommodated, but set schedules cannot be approved
• Floating required to support Med Surg as primary need
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (TX or Compact) required in-hand before start
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience strongly preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central/peripheral/PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
• Experience in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown, and MS/Tele settings
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with IV insulin protocols
• Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac cath/angiogram, and pre/post cardiac surgery care

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or have a plan in place for timely completion
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Facility conducts its own drug screening upon arrival, which includes marijuana testing
• A positive drug screen results in automatic cancellation with no exceptions
