Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring travel experience and floating primarily to Med Surg units.

Details

• PCU Float role primarily supporting Med Surg units within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, stepdown/IMC, renal, neurological, and post-surgical cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
• Day shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• 36/48 alternating hour schedule required; straight 48s may be considered
• Weekend work required as needed, potentially most weekends during the contract
• Block scheduling may be accommodated, but set schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Floating required to support other units as needed

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required, in hand before start
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience strongly preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, and tracheostomy management
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Wound care and isolation precaution/PPE experience

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team engagement
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screen, including marijuana testing, with a positive result resulting in automatic cancellation
• Candidates should avoid substances that may result in a positive drug screen, including CBD products, prior to arrival
• Facility requires candidates to reside within a 50-mile radius; local candidates are not accepted
• Skills checklist and certifications must be current and verifiable
• Two professional references from supervisors within the last 3 years of employment required
