Description
American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Level II Special Care Nursery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Special Care Nursery/Couplet Care unit of an acute care hospital
- Level II Special Care Nursery with 12 licensed neonatal beds caring for babies 32 weeks gestational age and above
- Average unit census of 10 with approximately 325 average deliveries per month
- Patient population includes infants on CPAP and High Flow, feeder-growers, R/O sepsis, and hyperbilirubinemia cases
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 3:1, occasionally 2:1 depending on acuity
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- SCN nurses start their own IVs; a certified neonatal PICC team is available
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Night shift schedule, 7:00pm-7:30am, with self-scheduling available
- Requires 3 weekend shifts per schedule (Friday or Saturday plus one Sunday)
- Requires coverage of one major and one minor holiday if within the assignment
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to sister facility, Chandler Regional Medical Center NICU
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active AZ or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience required
- Level II NICU experience required; Level III NICU experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and STABLE
- BSN not required for this position
- Must pass a pass/fail Sim Lab test on foley catheter insertion on Day 1 of orientation
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide neonatal care in a Level II Special Care Nursery setting
- Charge nurse attends high-risk deliveries and manages the shift, occasionally taking one low-acuity patient assignment
- Unit includes a PCT who also serves as a HUC and assists with neonatal patient care
- NNPs are in-house 24/7 with pediatrician coverage/on-call available around the clock
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
- Navy blue scrub color required
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for shorter assignments
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past 12 months
