Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care setting on a 49-bed Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit
- Patient population includes CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, telemetry, post-cath, and total joint replacement patients
- Patient ratio of 1:5 with nurse aide support at 1:10-15
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Night shift, 7-7, 12-hour shifts scheduled in 4-week blocks with self-scheduling finalized by manager
- Every other weekend required, 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating required to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified, with priority given to travelers
- RT equipment on unit includes BiPAP, CPAP, and breathing treatments
- Tele/monitor techs present on unit, but RNs are required to interpret strips and sign off at least once per shift
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips required
- Some experience with CVA and TIA preferred
- Total joint replacement experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience recommended due to limited orientation
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
Additional Information
- Interpret and sign off on telemetry strips at least once per shift
- Diltiazem/Cardizem drips administered at a set rate; RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Charge nurse and house supervisor support available on the unit
- One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Holiday coverage required for Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving, typically 2 day shifts and an evening, or 2 evenings and a day
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
- First-time travelers may be considered
- Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts per contract, or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks
