Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring at least 1 year of Neuro ICU experience and a CA RN license.
Details
- Work in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit of a hospital environment
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Required to work every other weekend
- May float to the ED, Step Down Unit, or Central Monitoring Department
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active CA RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- TNCC certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- At least 1 year of Neuro ICU experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skilled in neurological care including EVD, ICP monitoring, CVA/acute stroke management, and post neurosurgery management
- Experience with ventilator management, arterial line management, and central/PICC line care
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to neurological ICU patients, including those with CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injuries
- Manage ventilated patients and assist with hemodynamic monitoring, including FloTrac/Vigileo
- Administer emergency medications, IV sedation, and neuromuscular blockade as needed
- Maintain infection prevention protocols and proper use of PPE
- Holiday coverage required for one designated holiday per contract (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day)
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only one holiday request approved
- Returning employees must have a minimum of 1 year separation before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates accepted at a local pay rate within a 50-mile radius
- First-time travelers may be considered if experience requirements are met
