Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Center PACU position requiring 2 years of PACU and critical care experience with ACLS and BLS certification.
Details
- Work in a 38-bay PACU within a Level I Trauma Center that operates 24/7
- Care for adult, occasional adolescent, and geriatric patients recovering from surgery
- Recover surgical patients from Neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant services
- Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
- Average daily census of 70-90 patients
- Day shift schedule of 4x10 hour shifts from 12:00-22:30, Monday-Friday
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
- Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support
- Float required within scope to PACU or PreOp units only
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- Active RN license (MO or Compact)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care experience required
- Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Critical care skills required including dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, IV vasopressor administration, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
- Experience with artificial airways and invasive monitoring required
- First-time travelers accepted with required 2 years of Level I Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing recovery to a wide range of acute post-operative surgical patients
- Care includes management of artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive medications
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
- Returning permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any facility within the health system as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
- Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair compatible with respirator fit testing requirements
