Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2 years of experience and charge nurse experience within a Level I trauma center.
Details
- Mixed unit including PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg within an Observation Unit setting
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
- Patient ratios of 1:4 on all shifts
- Cares for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including chest pain, atrial fibrillation, TIA, GI bleed, CHF, seizure, COPD, and post-surgical complications
- Approximately two-thirds of patients are managed by EDOBS providers, with a department length-of-stay goal of 18-24 hours
- Requires familiarity with intermediate medication drips including heparin, nitro, cardizem, and insulin
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within service line and between Toledo, Flower, Bay Park, and Wildwood facilities to units such as Neuro/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Trauma, Oncology, General Surg, and Uro/Vascular
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
- Charge nurse experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
- Observation medicine experience preferred
Additional Information
- Work within a Level I trauma center and the largest acute care hospital in the Toledo metropolitan area
- Provide telemetry-based nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and insulin drip titration
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Facilities not accepting local candidates within a 50-mile radius
- Requests for time off greater than 7 days require management approval
- Returning staff must have a break of at least 1 year since last employment as permanent staff
- Schedules subject to change with two-week notice from the facility
