Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift renal med/surg unit requiring at least 1 year of experience and Epic EMR proficiency.
Details
- Renal Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
- Adult to geriatric patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 49-room unit with an average daily census of 48
- Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Navy blue scrub color required
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and high flow nasal cannula preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and PICC line management preferred
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE preferred
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team activation preferred
- Experience with insulin, heparin, and PCA medication administration preferred
Additional Information
- Provide medical surgical nursing care to a renal patient population including pre/post hemodialysis management
- Utilize cardiac monitoring and remote telemetry as needed
- Respond to rapid response and code team activations as required
- Manage surgical drains, colostomy/ileostomy care, and feeding tube management as needed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with all RTO finalized at time of submission
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
