Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 1 year of experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and telemetry/cardiac drip titration skills.

Details

  • Work in a Neuro/Stroke PCU floor within a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes respiratory, cardiac, and mixed medical PCU-level patients across adolescents to geriatrics
  • Requires continuous telemetry monitoring and titration of cardiac drips
  • Unit has 36 beds with an average daily census of 30 and a 1:4 patient ratio
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Works every other weekend unless otherwise specified
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No call requirements
  • No block scheduling permitted
  • Uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Experience managing and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, including heparin protocols and insulin drip titration
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Experience with feeding tube care and isolation precautions/PPE
  • First-time travelers are accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide care for neurological conditions including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury patients
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum 7 days of RTO per contract, which must be finalized prior to submission
  • No RTO or schedule requests permitted during orientation week
  • Shift and schedule are firm with no alternate shift or schedule requests allowed
  • RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Full compliance required prior to start date to avoid a two-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
  • Former Piedmont perm, per diem, or FCSS employees must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
