Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a general neuro-focused unit requiring 2 years of experience and travel experience preferred.
Details
- Work on a 19-private-room Medical Surgical unit (3 South) treating patients from young adulthood through geriatric age
- Care for both medical and surgical patients, including those with neurology or neurosurgical diagnoses
- Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
- Maintain a 1:6 patient ratio
- Day shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Epic charting system used
Requirements
- Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- Current BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Travel experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line care
- Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), oxygen administration, and oral suctioning
- Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgical care
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and IV insulin protocols
- Experience with PCA, heparin, and insulin administration
Additional Information
- Provide medical-surgical level monitoring, interventions, and care to a diverse patient population
- Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed for emergent situations
- Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
- Onboarding requires completion of core items/labs within 48 hours of contract signing
