Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a general neuro-focused unit requiring 2 years of experience and travel experience preferred.

Details

• Work on a 19-private-room Medical Surgical unit (3 South) treating patients from young adulthood through geriatric age
• Care for both medical and surgical patients, including those with neurology or neurosurgical diagnoses
• Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
• Maintain a 1:6 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Current BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line care
• Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), oxygen administration, and oral suctioning
• Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgical care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with PCA, heparin, and insulin administration

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical level monitoring, interventions, and care to a diverse patient population
• Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed for emergent situations
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
• Onboarding requires completion of core items/labs within 48 hours of contract signing
