Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Epic experience and a VA or compact RN license in hand.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a brand-new community hospital featuring 14 beds, a trauma room, and 3 vertical care spaces
• Combined adult/pediatric general Emergency Department setting
• Patient ratio of 4:1
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• 13-week assignment length
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Requirements

• Active VA RN license or compact RN license required in hand
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• NIHSS certification required
• CPI certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required with no exceptions
• NIH and stroke education required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Prior travel experience required
• Specialty experience within the last year required
• Skilled in emergency care across pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and trauma presentations
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation
• Experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and blood product administration
• Skilled in administration of emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
• Knowledgeable in isolation precautions/PPE and triage protocols
• Able to manage orthopedic trauma including splint application

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of patient presentations including trauma, cardiac, neurological, psychiatric, and pediatric cases
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and complex emergent conditions
• Support hypothermia protocols and neuro-trauma care including CVA and traumatic brain injury cases
• Handle shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Identify and report signs of neglect or abuse
• Prior permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months before being eligible for a travel assignment
• RTO requests should be minimal, ideally with no full calendar weeks off and no more than 7 total days during the assignment
• RTO must be submitted with the initial application and confirmed in the offer; no additional RTO requests will be approved after an offer is extended
• First-time travelers may be considered given required specialty experience
