Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level III NICU position requiring at least 2 years of NICU Level III/IV experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work in a Level 3 NICU within a Level 2 regional trauma center
  • Provide respiratory care independently and autonomously within the NICU setting
  • Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00) or Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00) available
  • Weekend work required every other weekend per CBA
  • May float between internal departments as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Patient ratios dependent on hospital acuity
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a NICU Level III or IV unit required
  • Active Washington state RRT license required in hand at time of submission (license required if applicable)
  • Compact license must be in hand at submission
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CRT or RRT, NRP, PALS or ENPC
  • Preferred certifications: PALS, ENPC
  • Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously in a Level 3 NICU
  • Skill and experience to work in a Level 2 regional trauma center
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive respiratory therapy services including ventilator management, airway management, and pulmonary hygiene for neonatal and pediatric patients
  • Perform neonatal procedures including direct intubation, high frequency jet ventilation, oscillating ventilator management, and umbilical blood gas draws
  • Manage patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries and provide CPAP/BiPAP support
  • Perform arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
  • Administer medications including nitric oxide
  • All staff, including full-time employees, are considered variable and shift assignments (day or night) are typically confirmed one to two weeks in advance
  • May be expected to float between sister facilities as needed
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel employee
  • Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a lower bill rate
  • Candidates must complete pre-start and annual training modules
