Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Rapid Admit Unit/ER Holding Nights position requiring BLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications with 1-4 patient ratios.

Details

• Work in the Rapid Admit Unit/ER Holding area providing Med/Surg level of care
• 4x12 hour day shifts scheduled from 6:30 to 19:00
• Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• May float to like units within scope, including up to a 1:6 ratio, as needed based on facility needs
• Brief orientation provided when floating to another unit

Requirements

• Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required, pending license accepted if obtained prior to start
• Current certifications: BLS, CPI, and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
• 1-2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line care, starting and maintaining IVs, oxygen administration, and medication administration (Heparin, Insulin)
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac required
• Preferred skills include chest tube management, tracheostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, CVA and substance withdrawal care, feeding tube management, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response/code team participation

Additional Information

• Provide Med/Surg level nursing care within an ER Holding unit setting
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
