Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down/DOU unit position requiring 2 years of PCU/ICU experience and neuro telemetry skills.
Details
- Work in the Step Down/DOU unit of a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
- Neuro Stepdown/PCU/IMC patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
- Uses EPIC charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license, MO or compact (compact license must match permanent residence)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including at least 1 year at PCU or ICU level
- Neuro experience preferred but other specialties with similar baseline skills accepted
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Telemetry monitoring experience required
- Skilled in neuro/psychiatric conditions including CVA, craniotomy, intracranial bleeds, and seizure disorders
- Experience with arterial line management, cardiac drip management, and heparin protocols preferred
- IV insulin protocol experience preferred
- Tracheostomy care experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide specialized nursing care to neuro stepdown/PCU patients requiring cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Fit testing required; travelers must have facial hair that allows for proper mask fit or must be clean-shaven with no exceptions
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius; no local candidates accepted
- Returning travelers may work an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
- Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- Contract length is firm with no exceptions
