Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) with at least 1 year of experience and NY state licensure for a day-shift hospital assignment.
Details
- Work in a 24/7 in-house Respiratory Therapy department covering a 6-bed ICU, ER, Med/Surg, Pediatrics, and low-volume newborn stabilization
- Care primarily for adult patients but must be comfortable providing care across all age groups, including pediatric and newborn stabilization prior to transport
- Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- May be asked to perform occasional EKGs after hours in support of the Cardiology Department
- May provide care to COVID-19 patient populations
- Float requirement applies
- Preferred ventilators include Servo I, LTV, and Hamilton T1
- Epic charting experience preferred
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist required
- Community hospital experience required
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, CRT, NRP
- PALS, RRT, and STABLE certifications preferred
- NY state license required in hand prior to consideration
- License required if applicable
- Experience with adult critical care and emergency department settings
- Proficiency in airway management including extubation, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, tracheostomy care and suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene
- Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Ability to interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
- Experience with medication delivery systems including aerosol setups, MDIs, and nebulizers
- Familiarity with a wide range of respiratory medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Isuprel, Lidocaine, Perforomist, Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline Sulfate, Tobramycin, and Xopenex
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide bedside respiratory care with proficiency and compassion across a variety of patient diagnoses
- Work independently or alongside a second therapist depending on unit needs
- Deliver routine medication via invasive and noninvasive ventilator management as assigned
- Ability to work alone and adapt to a changing care environment as needed
- Unit orientation includes review of ABG interpretation
- Scrub color requirements are flexible
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates cannot have more than 10 days of requested time off (RTO) at time of consideration
- Previous employees may be eligible for return after a 6-month system-wide waiting period
