Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Step Down/PCU night shift position requiring a VA or compact license, Epic experience, and prior telemetry/stepdown nursing experience.
Details
- Work in the Step Down/PCU/IMC unit of an academic teaching hospital
- Cares for cardiac telemetry patients with 1:3 patient ratios
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including inability to have Labor Day weekend off
- Floating required within scope of practice per facility policy
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of previous charge experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Experience with cardiac telemetry, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copies of required certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy stepdown/telemetry unit including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team activation as needed
- Manage patients with renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, orthopedic, and neurological/psychiatric conditions as part of a diversified caseload
- Complete up to 16 non-billable hours of specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday
- Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
- Previous UVA Health employment as permanent staff or as an internal/external traveler requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- No radius rule applies to this position
