Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Stepdown unit position requiring VA or compact RN license, 1+ years of stepdown experience, and Epic charting experience.
Details
- Work in the Stepdown/PCU/IMC unit of a teaching hospital environment
- Care for telemetry patients requiring cardiac monitoring at a 1:3 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
- Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
- Unable to approve time off for Labor Day weekend
- Uses Epic EMR for charting
- Must adhere to facility float policy and float within scope of practice as needed
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of stepdown/telemetry nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- BSN preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or Level II experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral/PICC line management, and arterial line management
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with cardiac drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team utilization
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with insulin drip titration and IV insulin protocols
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to a cardiac telemetry and stepdown patient population, including renal, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, and neurological/psychiatric cases
- Utilize cardiac monitoring equipment and respond to dysrhythmias and emergent situations
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded in Workday, with up to 16 non-billable hours
- Maximum of 40 hours of requested time off (RTO) per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
- Previous permanent staff or internal/external travelers require a minimum 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers are limited to a maximum of 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
