Description
American Traveler is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/Adult Critical Care night shift position requiring 2+ years of RRT experience and prior travel assignment experience.
Details
- Short term acute care teaching hospital and member of the COTH with 338 staffed beds
- Work in the CRT NICU unit with floating required between Adult Critical Care and NICU
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:30 to 7:00
- Every other weekend required with no on-call requirement
- Holiday coverage expected
- Uses Draeger V500, Draeger VN500, and Servo U ventilators
- Charting completed in Cerner
- Local rate offered for candidates within 60 miles of the facility
Requirements
- RRT and CRT certification required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS and PALS certification preferred
- NRP certification required
- MD state license or compact license required; license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care and NICU within the last 7 years
- Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment required
- Cerner charting experience required
- ED experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, Trauma Level I, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Skilled in airway management including endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, nasal and oral airway placement/suctioning, tracheostomy care, and sputum specimen collection
- Proficient in ABG interpretation and comfortable drawing and analyzing ABGs
- Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, high pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Experience assisting in high-risk deliveries and obtaining umbilical blood gases
- Knowledge of medication delivery systems including nebulizers, MDIs, and aerosol setups for mask and trach
- Experience administering medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Isuprel, Lidocaine, Perforomist, Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline Sulfate, Tobramycin, and Xopenex
- Bronchoscopy, Bicarbonate, inhaled Flolan, Ketamine, Mucomyst, Nitric Oxide (INo), and Theophylline experience preferred
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill adult and neonatal patients
- Perform airway management, pulmonary hygiene, and oxygen therapy including High Flow Nasal Cannula and trach collar
- Scrubs are not provided; scrub color is ceil blue
- First-time travelers are not eligible; must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
- Candidates with previous employment at this health system must have been separated for a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract
- Manager interviews are not guaranteed and travelers must be comfortable proceeding without one
- Candidates in this specialty must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
- Facility-specific compliance modules and lab/drug screening appointments must be completed within specified timeframes after signing
