Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele (Oncology) RN with active MD or Compact RN license and 2+ years of inpatient oncology experience for a night shift assignment.
Details
- Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in Oncology
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 1900-0730
- Every other weekend required
- No scheduled on-call requirements, though real-time staffing needs may require on-call coverage
- Floating required within specialty and lower acuity units
- Epic charting system experience required
Requirements
- Active MD or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Inpatient oncology experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- ACLS and Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC) certifications preferred
- Must pass Tele competency exam
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, infusions, and port access/management
- Experience with chemotherapy administration and management of oncologic emergencies
- Knowledge of psychosocial care including hospice and advanced directives
- Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care to oncology patients including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and oncologic emergency response
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, and implanted ports
- Administer blood products, coagulation factors, and various medications including antiemetics and corticosteroids
- Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
- Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Travelers are expected to float within scope with priority given to travel staff
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Returning staff must have a 12-month break before returning as a traveler
- Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the health system after completing an assignment
- Maximum RTO request of 7 days, with additional week required on back end for requests exceeding 4 consecutive days on new contracts
