Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/Adult ICU night shift position requiring 3+ years of experience and RRT, NRP, and BLS certifications.

Details

• Work in a Short-Term Acute Care Trauma II hospital with 90 total staffed beds
• Rotate between Respiratory Care, NICU, Adult Critical Care, and Emergency Department settings
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30
• No weekend requirements
• No on-call requirements
• No floating outside scope required, though ICU travelers may float to non-ICU units at standard patient ratios
• Uses Epic for charting
• Uses Puritan Bennett and Servo ventilator equipment
• Wine-colored scrubs required

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy experience required
• Required certifications: RRT, NRP, BLS, ACLS, CRT
• AARC certification preferred
• VA state license required if applicable
• NBRC certification required
• Community hospital experience required
• Adult ICU and NICU experience required
• Emergency Department experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required include airway management, ventilator management, medication administration, ABG interpretation, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, nebulizer therapy, and high-risk delivery assistance
• Experience with high-flow nasal cannula, trach care/management, and chest physiotherapy required
• Experience caring for infants with RSV and transient tachypnea of the newborn required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include high-risk delivery assistance, ventilator management, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, airway management, tracheostomy care, and pulmonary hygiene
• Provide respiratory support across adult critical care, emergency department, and NICU patient populations
• Manage medication delivery via aerosol, MDI, and other respiratory medication administration systems
• Up to 8 hours of pre-start training modules required within one week of signing
• All required certifications must be obtained prior to start
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• Requests for RTO exceeding 7 days require an equivalent extension of the assignment
• Block scheduling accommodations are at the manager's discretion
• Previous employees must have a 1-year separation from the health system before returning
