Description

American Traveler is hiring a Charge RN for the Operating Room requiring 5 years of circulating/scrubbing experience and 2 years of charge experience in a Level II Trauma OR setting.

• >Operating Room unit within a Level II Trauma Center
• Adult and geriatric patient population with a 1:1 ratio
• General OR cases spanning trauma, urology, podiatry, orthopedics, plastics, neuro, GYN, endoscopy, ENT, thoracic, vascular, cardiac, and bariatric specialties
• Da Vinci robotics experience required
• Uses Epic EMR
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (06:45-15:15), 40 hours per week
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Rotational weekend coverage required, inclusive of on-call shifts
• On-call responsibilities of 5-6 calls per 4-week period, including one weekend call
• Weekday/weeknight on-call runs from end of shift until 6:30 am the next morning; weekend on-call is a 24-hour shift
• Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of being called in
• Floating required within specialty and to a sister campus as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• CNOR certification preferred
• ACLS certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a circulating/scrubbing OR role
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Charge RN role managing daily operations in a Trauma II or higher OR setting
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Strong general OR and robotics experience required for first-time travelers
• Proficiency across multiple surgical specialties including general, bariatric, trauma, GYN, urology, robotics, ortho, neuro, and podiatry

Additional Information

• Serve as Charge RN overseeing daily operations of the OR
• Communicate effectively with anesthesia, surgeons/providers, nursing staff, and leadership
• Prioritize cases efficiently based on acuity, including trauma, emergent, urgent, and add-on cases
• Handle a wide range of surgical specialties and procedures including robotic-assisted surgeries using the Da Vinci system
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply given strong general OR and robotics background
• Floating required within specialty scope and to a sister campus as needed with no restrictions
