Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience, 1 year of travel experience, and EPIC proficiency.
Details
- Onc Pod Emergency Department within a cancer hospital setting
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week
- Floating required
- Patient ratio of 1:4
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
- Proficient in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
- Skilled in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and pediatric emergency care
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care to a combined adult/pediatric patient population in a Level I Trauma Center
- Facility is a STEMI and Stroke Certified institution
- Manage patients requiring IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line care
- Administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors
- Care for patients requiring BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilator support, including ABG interpretation
- Assist with sickle cell crisis management
- RTO must be submitted and built into the contract at time of application, with a limit of 7 or fewer days
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance timelines
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees of the facility are eligible for a travel assignment after being away for 6 months or more
- Current employees of the health system are not eligible for a travel assignment at this facility

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
