Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer to perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies with 3 years of cardiac sonography experience and RDCS or RCS certification required.

Details

• Work in the Echocardiography unit within Cardiovascular Services
• Care for a patient population ranging from neonate to geriatric
• M-F varying shifts from 7:00am-5pm with no weekends or call required for this assignment
• 40 hours per week, 8 hour shifts, 5 days per week
• 13-week assignment
• On-site position with no teleworking
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Associate's degree or graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program required
• ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or CCI Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required
• BLS certification required (AHA or American Red Cross)
• 3 years of cardiac sonography experience required
• Registry eligible with experience in adult and pediatric cardiac sonography including transesophageal and stress echo preferred
• Experience with outreach services helpful
• Knowledge of cardiac pathophysiology, diagnostic procedures, and patient care procedures required
• Proficiency in cardiac hemodynamics, PISA quantification, strain imaging, and simple pediatric indications (age 5 and older)
• Experience with Definity, Optison, and bubble studies (agitated saline)
• Ability to scan a full echo and report findings within 75 minutes
• Must be able to tolerate frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulder level, and occasional twisting and turning
• Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing, hear at ordinary conversation level, and possess good visual acuity
• Active license required if applicable
• COVID vaccination and booster required

Additional Information

• Competently perform complete echocardiographic studies integrating all cardiac echo imaging modalities and procedures
• Document patient data and echo exam information accurately using the Echo Information Management System and other computer applications
• Function independently using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to obtain comprehensive echocardiograms
• Collaborate with Lead Cardiac Sonographers, Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Echocardiographers, and physicians to assist in interpretation of findings
• Assist in orientation, training, and education of trainees, students, and visitors assigned to Cardiovascular Services
• Understand sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques, exercising proper precautions against radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments
• Demonstrate flexibility in learning all equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures
• Mayo may call off or cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment due to low census
