Description
American Traveler is hiring an ICU Float RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of ICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on an ICU Nursing Float team
- Float pool includes ICU, ED boarders (inpatients only), all MedSurg units, and the Observation unit
- Patient ratios vary by unit: 1:1-2 for ICU, 1:3-4 for PCU or ED, and 1:5-6 for lower acuity MedSurg
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Night shift schedule, 7p-730a, with every other weekend required (every weekend also considered)
- Holiday coverage required
- No call or standby requirement
- Charge nurse or house supervisor present on each unit
- Nurse aide support available depending on staffing needs
- Respiratory therapy equipment available including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
- Telemetry monitoring used on each unit with monitor techs, and RNs must be able to read tele strips
- RNs required to titrate drips including sedation, vasoactive medications, and paralytics in ED, Critical Care, and PCU units
- Set schedule with potential for overtime if desired
- Unit assignments communicated by phone 30-60 minutes prior to shift start
Requirements
- Active WA or Compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Must be able to manage Swan-Ganz catheters, IABP, and Impella devices
- Must be able to float to MedSurg and take a full patient assignment
- Must be able to advocate for own skill set and communicate comfort level with assigned tasks
- Must be able to read telemetry strips
- BSN not required for this position
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across multiple units within the float pool based on daily staffing needs
- Complete 1 day of onboarding with the manager plus 2 shifts shadowing a member of the float pool
- Professional scrubs of any color are acceptable, with scrubs or business casual attire required for trainings
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
