Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and EPIC proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes med/surg and telemetry cases, with exposure to plastics and orthopedic/total joint replacement patients
- Typical patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Floating to any campus within the health system may be required
- Utilizes telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team protocols
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including Med/Surg experience
- EPIC charting system experience required
- Teaching hospital and charge nurse experience preferred
- Must pass a compliance EKG exam (pass/fail, two attempts allowed)
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
- Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula and oral suctioning
- Experience managing wound care and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with GI and GU/renal patient care, including feeding tubes and colostomy/ileostomy management
- Copy of current driver's license required to verify residential address
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for med/surg and telemetry patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response as needed
- Complete unit-based orientation modules (non-billable, 2-4 hours average) during onboarding
- Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, central line blood draws, PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, and CVA care
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates within this radius will be considered
- RTO must be submitted with the initial application; no requests will be accepted after submission
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position; prior travel nursing experience is required
