Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for an Acute Care Hospital setting, requiring at least 1 year of experience and the ability to work independently as the sole therapist on some shifts.
Details
- Short term acute care hospital setting, primarily on the MedSurg unit
- May float to ICU, ED, and ASU as needed
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Weekend work required, averaging 2-3 weekend days per month
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic for charting
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Prior travel experience preferred, as this PT may be the only therapist on shift at times
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Oregon PT license required if applicable
- Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Experience with acute care assessment, adaptive devices, AROM/AAROM/PROM, and assistive devices
- Skilled in body mechanics, environmental barrier identification, pain assessment, and vital sign monitoring
- Experience with equipment including bed alarms, call lights, crutches, gait belts, hospital/specialty beds, Hoyer lifts, rolling walkers, shoulder slings, sit-to-stand lifts, sliding boards, soft/hard collars, and standard walkers
- Experience in orthopedics including gait training, hip fractures/injuries, low back pain, and total hip/knee replacement
- Geriatric and neurologic patient population experience preferred, including Parkinson's disease and post-stroke rehabilitation
- Strong documentation skills including assessment, discharge, evaluation, long-term goals, and plan of care
- Effective time management skills required
Additional Information
- Primary responsibilities include patient assessment, treatment planning, and documentation across acute care settings
- May be the only physical therapist on shift at certain times, requiring independent clinical judgment
- May be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
- Teaching hospital environment
- Any color scrubs accepted for PT staff
- Must be willing to commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays
- First-time travelers may be considered depending on scheduling needs
- Returning staff who previously worked at the facility as permanent employees must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live outside a 50-mile radius
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
- RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application; requests made after submission or offer may not be accommodated
- Two supervisory references required, covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in a comparable setting
