Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an Observation Unit position requiring an active RN license and BLS certification.
Details
- Work in a 32-bed Observation Unit affiliated with the Emergency Department for patients expected to stay less than 24 hours
- Patient population includes chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, heart catheterizations, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, UTIs, and DVTs
- Provider on-site daily from 7a-5p
- Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week over 3 days
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted RN license (IN or compact) required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- ADN or ASN required, BSN preferred
- No prior experience required
- Proficiency in medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, and use of medical equipment
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and patients/families
Additional Information
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings per scope of practice and hospital policy
- Facilitate admission, transfer, and discharge activities including discharge teaching and coordination with Case Management
- Develop and prioritize individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional team
- Delegate and oversee tasks performed by other care team members
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities such as monitoring patient satisfaction, falls, pressure ulcers, and CAUTIs
- Provide patient and family-centered education tailored to cultural, age, and developmental considerations
- Promote a positive, healing environment through effective communication and teamwork
