Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Observation Unit position requiring an active RN license (IN or compact) and BLS/ACLS certification.

Details

• 32-bed Observation Unit affiliated with the ED for patients expected to stay less than 24 hours
• Patient mix includes chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, heart catheterizations, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, UTIs, and DVTs
• Provider on-site daily from 7a-5p
• 3rd shift schedule, 7p-7a
• 36 hours per week, 3x12-hour shifts
• 0.9 FTE

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license (IN or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• ADN or ASN required, BSN preferred
• No prior experience required
• Proficiency in medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, and use of medical equipment
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and patients/families
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, disease processes, and healthcare regulations
• Last 4 digits of SSN and MM/DD of date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings per hospital policy and RN scope of practice
• Coordinate admission, transfer, and discharge activities including discharge teaching and care coordination with Case Management
• Provide patient and family-centered education tailored to cultural, age, and developmental needs
• Prioritize and manage care for multiple patients based on acuity and available resources
• Delegate and oversee tasks performed by other care team members
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, falls prevention, and documentation audits
• Promote a healing, patient-centered environment through collaborative and compassionate care
• Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility for travel rate eligibility; local candidates accepted at a lower rate
