Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Tele Float Pool position requiring 2 years of MS-Tele experience and a KS or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting within a Med/Surg-Tele Float Pool covering multiple units
• Float pool includes General MS-Tele plus Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs specialties
• Adult and geriatric patient population including post-surgical, general medicine, and stable long-term placement patients
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6 based on acuity
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour day shifts on a 7-7 schedule
• 6-9 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
• May be required to work holiday rotation
• Rare call/standby requirement for low census situations
• Must float throughout the assigned zone, including to other acuity levels such as low-acuity ICU holds, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele units
• Designated charge nurse on each unit who typically does not take a patient assignment
• Nursing aide support available on the unit
• Respiratory therapy equipment used, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
• RNs required to titrate Heparin drips
• Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance and may follow single-facility or just-in-time float formats

Requirements

• Active KS or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience within the last 3 years required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Prior neuro experience preferred
• Prior Alaris pump and EPIC experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Deliver direct patient care across multiple float units within the assigned zone, adapting to varying acuity levels and specialties
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the float zone's city center to qualify for the position
• Responsible for securing housing that accommodates floating throughout the entire zone regardless of chosen location
• Will receive float assignment notification on or before the Monday start date, with scheduling varying by week
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
• Candidates must be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
