Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab RN with RCIS or ARRT-R certification and recent interventional scrubbing experience for a 13-week assignment requiring an active MD or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a hospital setting spanning 2 Cath Labs and 1 Hybrid OR
- Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
- Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures including IABP, Rotablator, Shockwave, Structural, PFO, TAVR, MitraClip, and Watchman
- Use equipment including GE Innova IGS, Philips imaging systems, GE MacLab, IVUS, and FFR
- Chart in EPIC
- Day shift schedule with 4x10-hour shifts, rotating as needed Monday through Friday, 06:30-17:00
- On-call required up to 13 weekdays as needed, 5pm-6am Monday through Thursday
- Weekend coverage required including on-call Friday 5pm through Monday 6am, totaling 3 weekends per contract
- Holiday coverage required, inclusive of on-call as scheduled
- Floating required within scope with no restrictions
Requirements
- Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of consideration
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA only) required
- ARRT-R and/or RCIS certification required
- CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version currently the only accepted online vendor)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cath Lab/Interventional scrubbing experience required
- GE Healthcare charting system experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in cardiac cath lab procedures including PCI, PTCA, left and right heart catheterization, hemodynamic monitoring, IABP placement/removal, rotablator atherectomy, and vascular closure systems
- Proficient in EKG lead placement, sterile technique, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- Experience with 3D imaging, permanent pacemaker insertion, ASD closures, and cardiac implant closure devices preferred
- Able to serve as room circulator and maintain sterile field while scrubbing procedures
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include equipment set up, accurate patient monitoring, prepping access sites, and maintaining inventory and supplies
- Utilizes rapid response/code teams and follows isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Block scheduling and special scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
- Local candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Maximum of 7 days RTO can be requested; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the back end of new contracts
- One major holiday off during the winter season may be accommodated depending on unit
- Returning travelers must have been away from the health system for at least 6 months following a completed assignment
- Former staff members must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a travel employee
- Most locations allow one contract plus one extension before requiring a 6-month break from the facility or unit
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Compliance labs must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing, with all compliance documents due 5 days prior to start

They will short staff you every day. I got attitude multiple times when trying to take lunch 9 hours into my shift because ‘we don’t really do that here.’ Incredibly frustrating staffing levels, especially on the oncology floor.
