Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position requiring 1-2 years of recent L&D experience and BLS/NRP certifications.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting
- Facility averages 100-200 births per month
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (18:30-7:00)
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Floating to like units within scope may be required based on facility needs, with brief orientation provided
- Care includes antepartum, high-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum patients
Requirements
- Active OK or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- BLS and NRP certifications required in hand
- ACLS and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
- 1-2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skilled in fetal monitoring including external and internal EFM, IUPC placement/calibration, and spiral electrode placement
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line maintenance, and blood/blood product administration
- Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, and circulating for C-sections
- Experience managing high-risk conditions including HELLP syndrome, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, placenta previa/abruptio, and preterm labor
- Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, and VBAC/trial of labor management
- Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and cord sample collection
- Support breastfeeding and lactation, and adhere to baby-friendly protocols
- Manage pain control methods including epidural anesthesia and IV PCA
- Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- This unit does not accept first-time travelers
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for travel positions
- Former permanent staff must have separated from employment for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
