Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position in a large hospital's critical care and emergency department setting, requiring an active OH RRT license.
Details
- Work in a 700-bed hospital with 7 adult ICUs of 16 beds each, plus pediatric and adult acute care areas
- Treat adult, geriatric, and pediatric patient populations, including Peds ER patients
- Manage diagnoses including asthma, COPD, emphysema, pneumonia, and other pulmonary and non-pulmonary conditions
- Perform general and critical care respiratory therapy including ventilator management, airway management, intubation/extubation assistance, and blood gas sampling
- Responsible for changing tubing and bags for invasive/arterial lines on certain campuses
- Utilize Epic for charting
- Utilize equipment including Servo I, Avea, and Bella Vista ventilators
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 18:30 to 07:00
- Floating required within the Metro Region between multiple hospital campuses, including mid-shift floating as needed
Requirements
- Active OH RRT license required in hand prior to submission (license required if applicable)
- NRP certification must be obtained prior to start date
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- PALS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience required after obtaining license
- Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department work setting experience required
- Experience with high-risk deliveries preferred; candidates without this experience must be open to on-site training
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Proficiency in ABG interpretation required
- Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Experience with airway management devices including ETT, tracheostomy, and nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning
- Experience administering medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, and Xopenex
- Experience with medication delivery systems including aerosol setups, MDIs, and medihalers
- Experience with nebulizer therapy including hand-held, T-piece, and trach collar setups
- Experience with oxygen therapy including High Flow Nasal Cannula and trach collar
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services across a wide range of ages from pediatric to geriatric patients
- Perform bronchopulmonary hygiene, hyperinflation therapy, cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, and maintenance of indwelling lines
- Respond to rapid responses and emergency codes, and perform CPR as needed
- Assist with bronchoscopy patient care
- Assist in high-risk deliveries
- Grey scrub color required
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility will not be accepted
- Requested time off of 7 or more days requires manager approval, and time off is not granted on holidays or the days before/after holidays
