Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU position requiring ICU experience, Cerner proficiency, and at least one prior travel assignment.
Details
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
- Traveler will work in both IMC and ICU units
- Floating required to Med-Surg and ED as needed
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, rotating between 0700-1930 and 1900-0730
- Every other weekend required, totaling 6 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) in a six-week period
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active Compact RN license or MD RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience required within the last 7 years
- ICU experience required
- Cerner charting system experience required
- Must have completed at least one previous travel assignment
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and 100% on lethal rhythms
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
- Cardiac monitoring skills required including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience with heparin protocols and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) required
- Wound care and IV insulin protocol experience required
- Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and hemodialysis management required
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry and progressive care nursing across ICU, IMC, and floated units as needed
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias and emergencies using Rapid Response/Code teams
- Manage isolation precautions, PPE, and wound care including wound vac management
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per 13-week contract
- Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Nurses with previous MedStar employment must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
