Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Acute Care Float Pool position at a Level 1 trauma children's hospital, requiring 2+ years of pediatric experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Float pool position caring for patients across a wide range of ages, acuity levels, and diagnoses at a pediatric hospital
- May float within scope of practice to meet facility needs, including Pediatric MedSurg, Pediatric Neuro, Pediatric Oncology, Pediatric Ortho, Pediatric Step Down, and NICU (excluding critical care float units)
- Units include an 85-bed Medical Unit focused on respiratory diseases, a 42-bed Surgical Unit, a 38-bed Hematology/Oncology Unit, and a 17-bed Medical Behavioral Unit
- Average daily census of 250 patients
- Variable Day/Night shifts (3x12 Hours), Day 7:00-19:00 and Night 19:00-7:00
- On-call requirement
- Weekend requirement of 4-5 weekend day shifts (Sat/Sun) and 6-7 weekend night shifts (Fri/Sat/Sun), with one full weekend off guaranteed in a 4-week period
- Uses Epic charting system
- Receives 4 shifts of orientation across 4 different units
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required (in hand, or ETA from licensing board accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of strong pediatric medical experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Level 1 Trauma facility experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience with respiratory care, oral/nasal suctioning, and oxygen delivery systems
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Must be willing to float within scope of practice to all inpatient care areas except critical care float, including NICU
- Flu vaccination required during flu season
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to pediatric patients across all age ranges, acuity levels, and diagnoses in a float pool capacity
- Facility is a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, Magnet recognized, Beacon Award for Excellence, and named a Top 10 Children's Hospital by U.S. News & World Report
- Must work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- Scrub color: any color
- RTO maximum of 6 days, and candidate must still work 3 shifts within the week
- First-time travelers accepted
- Local candidates not accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
- Free traveler parking available
