Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with Michigan licensure and neurological unit experience for a night shift position with every-other-weekend requirements.

Details

• Work on a 40-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis
• Care for a large spinal surgery population including post-operative neuro-surgery, ortho-surgery, laminectomy, and spinal fusion patients
• Unit includes six step-down/telemetry beds and six bariatric beds
• Unit includes a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit admitting seizure patients starting at age 5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
• Night shift patient ratios of 1:5-6, with no LPN support on nights
• Charge nurse takes patients when unit is short-staffed
• Required to work every other weekend
• May float to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms
• Uses Epic charting system and Pyxis medication dispensing

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification required, or willingness to complete certification prior to start
• 1-2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Supervisor-level reference required
• Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration, or exemption submitted within 48 hours of signing

• Provide direct care to a diverse patient population including neurological, post-surgical, telemetry step-down, and bariatric patients
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
• Assignment length offers up to 26 weeks
• RTO limited to no more than 10 days
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• Previous Bronson internal travelers may return after 6 months of separation
• Previous permanent staff may return after 1 year of separation
• Annual self-reported training modules required, completed during orientation and yearly thereafter
