Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with Michigan licensure and neurological unit experience for a night shift position with every-other-weekend requirements.
Details
- Work on a 40-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis
- Care for a large spinal surgery population including post-operative neuro-surgery, ortho-surgery, laminectomy, and spinal fusion patients
- Unit includes six step-down/telemetry beds and six bariatric beds
- Unit includes a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit admitting seizure patients starting at age 5
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
- Night shift patient ratios of 1:5-6, with no LPN support on nights
- Charge nurse takes patients when unit is short-staffed
- Required to work every other weekend
- May float to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms
- Uses Epic charting system and Pyxis medication dispensing
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- NIHSS certification required, or willingness to complete certification prior to start
- 1-2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Supervisor-level reference required
- Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration, or exemption submitted within 48 hours of signing
Additional Information
- Provide direct care to a diverse patient population including neurological, post-surgical, telemetry step-down, and bariatric patients
- Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
- Assignment length offers up to 26 weeks
- RTO limited to no more than 10 days
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
- Previous Bronson internal travelers may return after 6 months of separation
- Previous permanent staff may return after 1 year of separation
- Annual self-reported training modules required, completed during orientation and yearly thereafter
