Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• 13-week travel assignment on a Labor and Delivery unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
• Unit averages 2,000 deliveries annually with 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
• Cares for low-risk patients including certified nurse midwife population and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases
• Expected to cross-train to Mother/Baby and may float to NICU for feeders/growers
• Every other holiday and every other weekend required
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Fetal monitoring experience required with ability to recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• BSN preferred
• Skilled in labor and delivery management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and postpartum care
• Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy and postpartum hemorrhage care preferred
• Experience circulating for and recovering from C-sections preferred
• Two professional references required
• Copies of all required certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
• Perform newborn assessments and assist with circumcision site care
• Support baby-friendly protocols and neonatal care in the delivery room
• Manage triage of obstetrical patients
• Float within scope of practice as needed, including to Mother/Baby and NICU units
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA employment as permanent staff or traveler requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• Travelers who reach 365 total assignment days are not eligible to return
• First-time travelers may be considered
