Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring an active IL license and 2+ years of experience.
Details
- Work in the Cardio Thoracic Unit (Telemetry) of an acute care hospital with 70 beds
- Patient population includes MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, thoracic and lung surgery patients (including chest tubes and esophagectomy), and general medical overflow
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
- PCT support available at ratios of 1:8-9 days, 1:9-10 evenings, and 1:10-12 nights
- 24/7 charge nurse (rarely takes patient assignments) and house supervisor coverage on every shift
- Dedicated tele/monitor techs on unit, though RNs must independently read and interpret Phillips telemetry strips
- RNs are required to titrate drips, primarily Cardizem and heparin
- Uses Epic EMR
- 12-hour day shifts (0700-1930) or night shifts (1900-0730)
- Weekend rotation required: every other Saturday/Sunday for days, every other Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for nights
- Holiday rotation required per unit schedule
- Floating required to other general medical units
- No call or standby requirements at this time
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS recommended
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- EKG interpretation and medication titration skills required
- Comfortable with basic respiratory equipment (CPAP, BiPAP) for patients on home regimens
- Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels as part of a Drug-Free Campus policy
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to cardiac and thoracic patients, including drip titration and telemetry monitoring
- Collaborate with monitor techs, PCTs, charge nurses, and house supervisors as part of a supported care team
- Unit-specific orientation is typically one shift, or partial shift, depending on prior OSF facility experience
- Any scrub color accepted, but children's or cartoon prints are not permitted as this is an adult care unit
- COVID vaccination is not required for consideration
- Local candidates are welcome to apply; local rate applies to those with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
- No radius rule restricts eligibility for this position
