Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Denver-area ER Float Pool position requiring 2+ years of ED experience and a CO or Compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care setting within an ER Float Pool covering Zone 3 in the Denver metro area
- Float pool assignment with no home base facility; must float among OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, St. Anthony North Hospital, and 84th Ave Emergency Room
- Facilities are Trauma Level 3-designated, with most sites serving as STEMI and Stroke receiving centers
- Patient volume ranges from 40-168 patients per day depending on location
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
- RNs are trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
- RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently, as no monitor tech is provided
- Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7 in the ER
- Uses Epic EMR
- 12-hour day shifts with an every other weekend requirement
- Every other holiday coverage required
- Schedules are released 4-6 weeks in advance and may follow single-facility or Just-In-Time (JIT) formats, with facility assignment given 1-2 hours before shift start
- No on-call or standby requirements
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS (AHA), and TNCC
- BSN not required for this position
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the Denver city center (zone hub) to qualify for travel rate
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Techs support unit secretary duties and assist nurses with floor and triage responsibilities
- Charge nurse role is filled by staff who also carry a patient assignment
- Scrub color/dress code is navy blue
- Unit-specific orientation is 2-3 days, with a full week of orientation required
- Travelers must be present in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Travelers are responsible for securing housing that allows them to float throughout the full Zone 3 area
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
