Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med Surg/Stepdown position requiring 2 years of med surg experience and comfort with frequent floating between units.

Details

• 22-bed adult Med Surg Oncology unit (5T) in a hospital setting
• Frequently floats between Medsurg, Stepdown, and MS/Tele units
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5 on Stepdown and 1:5-6 on Medsurg
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Works weekdays with every other weekend rotation
• Floating required within the hospital in rotation with staff
• Uses Meditech EMR system
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• 13-week contract with possible extension

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required (ACLS and NIHSS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of med surg experience required
• Stepdown/PCU experience required due to floating expectations
• IV start skills required
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across Medsurg, Stepdown, and Telemetry units as needed
• Must be comfortable with high floating frequency between units
• Floating occurs in accordance with Joint Commission standards, including appropriate orientation to new units
• Candidates must not live within 50 miles of the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Scrubs not provided; royal blue/white scrub color required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Facility will not accept candidates with license or background hits
• Former employees must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure
• Minimal to no RTO approved; any requested time off must be discussed prior to assignment start
