Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with a CA license and at least 3 years of PACU experience for a day shift assignment requiring teaching hospital background.
Details
- Work in the PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) of a teaching hospital
- Provides care across Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, pre-op, and extended care units
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Handles surgery cases including Endo/Laparoscopic, ENT, General, GYN, Ophthalmology, Robotics, and Urology
- Manages patients under general and gynecologic anesthesia including hysterectomy and mastectomy procedures
- Administers IV vasopressors and manages ENT cases such as tonsillectomy
- Performs cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, with variable start times (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
- Floating to other UCSF facilities required
- May be reassigned to different departments, units, or facilities within a 75+ mile radius at any time during the assignment
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BSN required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- CCRN or CPAN certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years of overall RN experience required
- Minimum 3 years of PACU experience required
- 2 years of critical care experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Knowledge of airway management, anesthesia recovery, and pain management required
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Two references from most recent employer required for consideration
Additional Information
- Deliver comprehensive perianesthesia care including pre-op, PACU, and extended recovery for a variety of surgical patient populations
- Provide discharge instructions and medication reconciliation as part of patient care
- Perform straight urinary catheterization for male and female patients as needed
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
- Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
- Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work on the same unit
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to the start of the assignment
- RTO requests cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment, and no additional RTO requests will be accepted mid-contract
