Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum with 2+ years of L&D experience and willingness to work in an LDRP setting on night shift.

Details

• Labor and Delivery/Postpartum unit with 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU
• Average of 4 to 6 patients per day
• Patient population includes labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, 1:3-4 couplets
• 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Possibility of low census call, with callback up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Epic EMR used
• Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing system used
• Fetal monitors and Philips monitors used for newborn monitoring
• Unit-specific equipment includes scales, ultrasound, and ambulation assist devices

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Must be willing and able to work in an LDRP setting
• Skills required include labor management, circulating for cesarean sections, pre-op and PACU care, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin management, and epidural management
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
• Facility is a Level 3 Trauma Center and Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center with 241 licensed beds
• Charge nurse support available 24/7
• Phlebotomy support available for peripheral blood draws
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7 within the hospital
• Hospitalist coverage available 24/7 for newborn care
• Resource nurse support available when available
• Facility and departmental orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Scrub color is green, hospital-issued

• Unit culture emphasizes teamwork
• Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with missed contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
• Previous perm employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to return
