Description
American Traveler is hiring an Emergency Department RN with at least 2 years of recent ER experience, Level I Trauma Center background, and an active NC or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a hospital Emergency Department serving a combined adult/pediatric population
- Level I Trauma Center setting
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- EPIC charting experience required
- Bi-weekly orientation schedule
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room experience required
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- EPIC charting system experience required
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs required
- Experience with arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care preferred
- Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients preferred
- Experience with ABG interpretation preferred
- Medication administration skills including IV sedation, vasopressors, and procedural sedation preferred
- Neurological care experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury preferred
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
- Triage skills required
- Ortho trauma experience preferred
- One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Flu vaccine required (October 31 - March 31) with no exemptions
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of trauma, cardiac, neurological, pediatric, and general emergency cases
- Deliver care using isolation precautions and PPE protocols as needed
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Holiday and weekend coverage expected as scheduled
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
- Previous permanent employment with Duke University Health System must be disclosed, and candidates cannot have been a permanent employee within the past 6 months
- RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
