Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN with a CA RN license and 5 years of experience for a night shift contract position.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele (MS/Tele) unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes falls, sepsis, UTI, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, and CHF exacerbation cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 23:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend required
• On-call as needed

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of relevant nursing experience required
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care, and peripheral line care required
• Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, starting and maintaining IVs, heparin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacement, traction, and substance withdrawal management
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates

Additional Information

• Provide skilled nursing care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients requiring cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Responsibilities include isolation precautions/PPE compliance and management of complex medical conditions
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius to qualify for local rate consideration
• Local candidates accepted at local rate
• Returning employees must have a minimum 1-year separation before reapplying as a traveler
• No prior travel experience required for consideration
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Only 1 holiday may be requested off per contract
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
