Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ER Holding/Adult Admission Unit position requiring telemetry skills and NM or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Adult Admission Unit (AAU), a fast-paced ER holding unit located next to the Emergency Department at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital
- Care for admitted patients transitioning to inpatient status across a diverse population spanning all specialties except ICU-level patients
- Unit has 17 beds plus up to 8 hall beds with frequent patient turnover
- Patient ratio of 1 RN to 4-5 patients
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- Contracted hours available at 36, 40, or 48 hours per week
- Float required to the ED for admitted patients, ICU for sub-acute care (SAC) assignments, and any inpatient PCU area
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required, pending license accepted
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- RQI certifications not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Skills required in telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration) and IV therapy/phlebotomy including starting and maintaining IVs
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred, must be willing to work relief charge as needed
Additional Information
- Facility is a Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital, and Short-term Acute Care facility with 554 staffed beds
- Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 designated holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
- Black scrubs required, not provided by facility
- No parking fees
- Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require approval
- No RTO permitted during the first 7 days or last day of the contract
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Candidates must live outside a 100-mile radius of the facility and provide a non-local driver's license on file
- A 6-month system break is required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments, whichever comes first
- Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
- Facility may call off shifts up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
