Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring 2+ years of critical care experience, Epic proficiency, and a valid LA or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally flexing to 1:3
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Float to all ICUs, and occasionally to the ED, PACU, or MS/PCU units (1:4 ratio) to care for ICU patients
• Nurses perform all lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts
• Uses Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA pumps, Servo I ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis machines, Edwards Lifesciences cardiac monitors, Medtronic EVD Management Systems, Arctic Sun TMS, GE Monitors, Hill Rom Beds, Pyxis Medication Station, and Veratron Bladder Scanner
• Epic charting experience required

Requirements

• Active LA RN license or compact license required at time of consideration
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and CPI (CPI can be obtained onsite for a fee)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Experience with IMPELLA and CRRT/NXStage required
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, BiPAP/CPAP management, and airway suctioning
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience managing CVVHD/CRRT and chronic/acute renal failure
• Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and post-neurosurgical care preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Two recent manager references required
• Must know N95 mask size for potential isolation patient care

Additional Information

• Provide direct bedside care to critically ill ICU patients across multiple specialties including cardiac, neuro, and renal
• Must be prepared to care for isolation patients, including potential COVID-19 cases
• RTO limited to 5 days total during the assignment
• Must reside more than 75 miles away to qualify for travel rate; local candidates within 75 miles accepted at local rate
• Previous permanent staff must have separated from the health system for at least 1 year before being eligible for travel assignments
• First-time travelers are not specifically restricted for this position
