Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN with Neurology experience for a night shift position that welcomes first-time travelers

Details

• Work in the Telemetry unit of a short-term acute care hospital
• Care for post-surgical neurology patients and various neurology diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating between units required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Neurology RN experience required
• Proficient with NIH Stroke Scale and post-surgical neurology patient care
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skills needed include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, craniotomy care, CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury care, and traumatic brain injury care
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
• Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring preferred

Additional Information

• Facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and a teaching hospital
• Provide telemetry nursing care to neurology patients including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted facility
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Any RN scrub color accepted
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be considered at a local, non-travel rate
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
